Evesham Cyclefest 2016
10-11 September 2016
Back for the third year, Cyclefest weekend was in partnership with Boardman Bikes. One of the highlights being that Olympic Gold medalist Chris Boardman lead out the Sportive Ride on the Sunday and we know he made lots of friends en route! There was also the opportunity to try Boardman Elite Bikes over both days.
Mountain Biking At the Valley
The Valley hosted the Mountain Bike Challenge and in spite of the inclement weather, those who took part wore the biggest grins, especially in the Under 8’s category; some of whom were taking part in their first ever event. Nigel Huddlestone (MP) opened the event.
Members of the Boardman Bikes team were be on hand to show case some of their bikes and also set a timed ‘Hot’ lap.

MTB Challenge Opening
The Evesham Escapade Sportive
There were 2 options: a quick Frolic (40 miles, 604m of climbing) or a longer Romp (88 miles, 1286m of climbing) through the spectacular countryside of the Vale of Evesham. The Sportive Ride was lead out by Olympic Gold medalist Chris Boardman.
The Cycle Village included the team from Evesham Halfords who offered free safety checks & bike repairs and a very welcome post ride massage from local sports masseur Matthew Webb.

A brilliant turn our for the led Leisure Ride to Broadway designed to be enjoyed by all. If you’ve been put off the idea of road cycling, then this ride might just change your mind. You can still follow the 16 mile route here so you can complete at any start time Cyclefest Leisure Ride Route Map and together with Cyclefest Leisure Ride Text to go with Route Map.
What else was there to see / do?
As part of our cycle village you could find: Children’s Bikeability skills area, displays from Wattbike, Sports Challenge, Circus Skills from Steve Kaos and skate / scooter demos & training from Bonk Skate.

Riders setting off to Broadway
A gentle, off road ride designed for 4-8 year olds or those that need a confidence boost. Need to be self propelled please so no balance bikes.
We were really pleased with the turn out and next year looking to have something for balance bike riders.
