Evesham CycleFest Weekend 8th & 9th September 2018

Now in it’s 5th year, Evesham CycleFest gets better every year, but our aim remains the same – getting more bums on bikes! In 2018 we are delighted to confirm that our charity partner is our local Tracy Sollis Trust who fund research, support and equipment in the fight against leukaemia, and are based in Evesham.
The 2017 mountain bike event enjoyed a fabulous day of off road cycle racing at The Valley, now the home of Boardman Performance Centre and their world class performance centre and wind tunnel. This year we hope to see more participants in what has been described as an ‘old school’ cross country event.
The 2017 sportive road event welcomed a record number of riders who enjoyed all the distances on offer, with the new 101 mile route turning out to be very popular.
Mountain Biking Saturday is Back!
With even more to challenge you on this fantastic off road course. Last year’s competitors told us they loved taking in the old orchards, grass track and the technical sections.  Racing round The Valley site – home of the new Boardman Performance Centre – cyclists of all ages and abilities can enjoy the off road racing format.
The smallest cyclists (last year our youngest competitor was 4!) will complete a short course, moving up to 10 laps for the Adult Challenge Cup race. We will have races for under 6 years, under 8 years, under 12 years, under 16 years, 16-18 years, adult novice and the adult Challenge Cup, so there’s something for everyone. Come and have a go in a safe and welcoming environment no matter what your experience level.
All participants will receive a medal, and through the generous support of traders at The Valley, there will be prizes for the top male and female racers in each class. The course is suitable for all MTB bikes, cyclocross bikes, and for U12’s all childrens bikes will be suitable. Just make sure each rider brings a helmet.
Registration will be on the day – 9 am for children and from 12.30 pm for adults.
  • £3 for U6’s and U8’s
  • £5 for U12’s, U16’s and 16-18’s
  • £10 for Adult Novice
  • £15 for Adult Challenge Cup

Evesham Sportives Sunday!
Our 3 events for 2018 are:
  • 34 mile Frolic (with or without Saintbury Hill)
  • 73 mile Romp
  • 101 mile Challenge
All the routes take in places that the CycleFest committee love to ride themselves – from the magnificent Salters Lane, chocolate box Snowhill village, the iconic Saintbury Hill, Georgian Pershore (where the Tour of Britain will come through a week later), the Capability Brown landscape around Croome, to the ever popular route around Bredon Hill and back into Evesham.
The route will be signposted, with fully stocked feed stations, chip timing, mobile mechanical and medical support and returning for a medal and well earned cake at the finish! If you’ve never entered a sportive before, this is a perfect event to try! There’s no pressure to achieve a certain time, just follow the signs and stop at any feed station for free refreshments en route.
We welcome under 16’s (with an adult) and those using adaptive bikes/trikes/handcycles.
Starting and finishing on the Crown Meadow, Evesham. Registration from 7am, departing 8am.
Entries via www.britishcycling.org.uk/events with prices starting at £21, or on the day entry prices starting at £25. Race numbers can be collected from The Boardman Performance Centre between 1 pm and 4 pm on Saturday 8th Sept or from 7am on Sunday 9th Sept at the Crown Meadow. Tours of The Boardman Performance Centre will also be happening on the Saturday so why not have a look round?

Leisure Ride Sunday
Our 12 mile scenic route is designed for any cyclist who is a bit rusty and hasn’t ventured onto the roads. Our group-led rides leave from the Crown Meadow at 10am or if you prefer to complete the route separately you may leave between 10am and 12pm.
Why not make it a family affair and cycle out with your children or grandchildren? Stop half way and have an ice cream at the Broadway Food Festival, enjoy the views and take it as easy as you like. Come back to a round of applause and a medal!
Registration and entry on the day opens at 9 am. Prices are £5 for adults, £3 for under 16’s.
Children’s Ride Sunday
The very smallest cyclists (stabilisers welcome, but no balance bikes please) can join in the fun at the Crown Meadow with an off road ride along the River Avon returning through the finish race arch to receive a medal.
This event will have a ride leader, but each child must also be accompanied by an adult (max 4 children per adult).
Registration and entry on the day opens at 12.00pm with rides leaving the Crown Meadow at 12.30 pm, 1 pm and 1.30 pm. Prices are £2 for each rider.
About Cycle Evesham Vale
Evesham CycleFest began in 2014 as a fundraiser for the Bell Tower appeal and featuring a sponsored Big Ride to London, CycleFest now raises funds for Cycle Evesham Vale and its chosen charity partner of the year.
Cycle Evesham Vale was formed in 2015, to promote and advocate for cycling in the Vale of Evesham. Running monthly social cycle rides, Easy Rider groups, working with local, district, county and national government bodies to make cycling a priority, and encouraging cyclotourism in the Vale, CEV is a totally voluntary group with no charges for participation.
The aim of CEV is to ‘Get more bums on bikes’ – and CycleFest is just one of the ways we hope to do that. If you’d like to know more, visit our website, facebook p or drop us an email – we’re always happy to chat!
